Welcome to scientists Class. Our teacher is Miss Picksley and our teaching assistant is Miss Lloyd. Last term we will be getting messy!

This term we will be getting messy! We will be learning about all things ‘Muck, Mess and Mixtures!’

As part of this topic, we will be using our senses to explore a variety of materials and finding ways to use these messy mixtures artistically.

In English, we will begin with a traditional tales topic, focusing on retelling the story of the ‘Magic Porridge Pot.’ We will then be moving on to Roald Dahl’s ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ writing labels, lists and captions for our own recipe inventions.

We will become artists this term, using mixtures and mess to create masterpieces for our art gallery! We will be exploring the skills of colour mixing, printing and even creating our own food landscapes.

We can’t wait to get started and show you our final masterpieces! (After getting a little messy along the way of course!)

Useful Information

  • PE will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for this term, so please send your child with an appropriate PE kit.
  • Books will be changed three times a week on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Year 2 is the best class ever. We have great fun in our lessons!

I love the topics we learn about because they are interesting and exciting. We are challenged to think hard about the things we learn.
