Welcome to Armstrong class Miss Daltrey is our teacher and Mrs Storey is our Teaching Assistant!

Welcome to Year 4. Our teacher is Miss Daltrey. Mrs Storey is our teaching assistant in Year 4.

Our topic for Autumn 1 is ‘I am Warrior!’ where we shall be learning all about the Romans. We will be looking at Mount Vesuvias and Boudicca throughout the topic. Do you know any interesting facts about the Romans?

During English in Autumn 1, we shall be writing historical narratives based on the story ‘Escape from Pompeii’. We will then be writing recounts both in 3rd and 1st person based on Boudicca and being a Roman soldier. Then finally we will be writing instructions for Roman food/craft.

During Maths in Autumn 1, our topics are negative numbers, place value and counting in multiples of 6, 7, 9, 25 and 100, written methods for addition and subtraction, classifying and comparing shapes and time. We will be focusing on problem solving throughout all topics and developing our reasoning skills.

Our science topic for Autumn 1 is ‘Electricity’. We will be looking at where electricity comes from and creating our own circuits.

Mrs Anderson will be teaching on a Tuesday. In RE, the topic for Autumn 1 is ‘Christian Journeys’.

Year 4 have PE on a Tuesday morning with Mr Frary and on a Thursday afternoon with Miss Daltrey.
