A big thank you to all our supporters

14th November 2018 Sam Coy

A big thank you to all our supporters As Headteacher of Benjamin Adlard Primary School, I am incredibly proud of our staff, pupils, parents and our whole school community who have all contributed to the school’s incredible journey that has led us this year to winning the School of the Year – Making a Difference Gold Award in the Pearson Teaching Awards. The story of this journey is not mine alone - I am no ‘super head’! So I wanted to take this opportunity to thank those who have played an important part in getting us to where we are today. First, I owe a great debt of gratitude to our Education Director Marie-Claire Bretherton, who has supported and guided me from the time I first joined Benjies as Head of School and continues to be a source of inspiration every day as we continue to develop and improve. Second, our turnaround would not have been possible without the incredible hard work of our staff team. Their unswerving commitment to finding ways to make the school a place where all pupils thrive has driven a lot of things we have introduced to make learning not only fun but truly inclusive, such as our forest school, to give just one example. This is what making a difference is all about. I also wanted to say that winning this award does not mean we think our work is done. We still have a way to go to improve results for pupils, for example, and need to build on initiatives such as the forest school and our teaching approaches to help our pupils to be the best they can be. As Headteacher, my aim is to now get on with supporting our school to continue to thrive and ensure that the pupils from the South West Ward go on to fulfil their potential and grow up to be well-rounded citizens. Thank you, again, for all your kind words and support. Mr Coy

Charity Week

09th November 2018 Sam Coy

At Benjamin Adlard we are always trying to teach our pupils the values of supporting others and looking after other people. Next week there are lots of charities taking part in fund raising events to help support people and make a difference to people’s lives. In light of this we have two events on next week that we have tried hard to manage so they don’t put too much pressure on parents. One of our wonderful pupils has asked that we support a charity which is very important to her. World Diabetes day is Wednesday 14th of November 2018 and as a school we have agreed to hold a non-uniform day with a charitable donation (Suggested £1.00) to help towards research in Diabetes. It is also children in need on Friday 16th November. If pupils want to wear spots on this day they can (Otherwise school uniform). There will be no donations required during the day but after school the friends of the school will be running a cake stall at the end of the school day in the school playground. Please feel free to buy some cakes to help support children in need. We hope this approach can help lots of people without causing to much pressure at this time of the year. As a school known for making a difference we wanted to see what we could do to help others. Thank you for support.
